This is 71 year old male that required extraction of lower left second molar. The adjacent third molar (wisdom tooth) was periodontally involved. A coronectomy was done to remove the superficial portion of the tooth only. Healthy roots can be left in the bone, instead of destroying the jaw.

We don’t always see patients like this again. This is 10 year follow up on coronectomy. The roots are healthy and completely encased in bone.
